CHAZY, NY - Robert Francis Dumas, 73, of Chazy, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday,
January 16, 2022 at CVPH Medical Center.
Robert (Bob) was born on September 2, 1948 in Woodhaven, Queens County, NY, the son of Earl and Margaret (Inselsberger) Dumas.
Bob married the love of his life Marilyn Dumas in 1989.
Bob was a Marine Corps veteran and served two tours in the Vietnam War as a Sergeant. After the war he worked various jobs until he joined the Army National Guard as an Army Recruiter. Bob then went on to work for US Immigration and Naturalization Service from 1988 until he retired in 2004.
Robert enjoyed building things in his workshop and traveling with his late wife Marilyn.
Bob donated his time to many civic duties, including being a Crossing Guard and as a member of the VFW. He was also involved in many aspects of the Catholic Church.
Bob was proud to be a Marine and thoroughly enjoyed taking the Honor Flight to Washington, DC with his son Paul in September of 2019. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many.
Bob is survived by his sons Jason Dumas of West Chazy, NY and Paul Kleinschmidt of Chazy, NY; two brothers, Richard Dumas and wife Patricia of Millersville, PA, and Christopher Dumas of Concord, CA; two sisters, Jacqueline and Stewart Patnode of Plattsburgh, NY, and Christina and Richard Woodbury of Hermon, ME; along with several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents Earl and Margaret Dumas, his wife Marilyn M. Dumas on September 3, 2021 and son Dodd Kleinschmidt.
The family will greet guests on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Due to covid protocols there will be no reception after the service.
