Robert H.
Williams Ii
April 20, 1953 – January 26, 2024
PLATTSBURGH- My father, Robert H. Williams II, 70, of Cogan Ave, Plattsburgh NY passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 in the company of his beloved wife Shari E. Williams.
Robert was born on April 20, 1953 in Saranac Lake, NY, and was the son of Mr. Robert H. Williams and Mrs. Laura Tormey Williams. My father lived the quintessential Adirondack boyhood throughout his youth, at Yemasee Lodge, and later in life upon parenthood found himself telling stories of his childhood adventures to me, his only child, - Dr. Coleen R. Williams - at the simple request of, "Dad, tell me a story."
Robert attended Saranac Lake High School and Ithaca College. During these formative years, he found his passion for rugby and football. He dedicated many years to the Mountaineers Rugby Club of Saranac Lake, and could always be found at the annual tournament or the former, Snuffy's Pub. And he was a major New York Giants Football fan who would never miss a game.
Robert dedicated himself to his career of being an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician at CVPH. He was an EMT for approximately 35 years, and those who worked with him freely share how he saved lives on the job and mentored others to do the same.
It was in the hospital that he met the love of his life, my mother, Shari. The two were married on July 11, 1981, and were still going strong after 42 and a ½ years of marriage. Robert was a dedicated and loving husband, as well as a father. My mother and I both consider ourselves to be the luckiest people on Earth to have been loved by him.
Anyone who knew Robert, or Willy to his rugby buddies, or Bob to his colleagues, knew they'd be in good company when they were with him. Robert is survived by Shari, Coleen and their partner Megan Bowen, his sisters Faith and Carolyn, and many, many friends and family members who we know cherish him as much as we do.
My father, Robert, will be forever missed and loved by all who knew him.
For those interested, Tribute Gift donations can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation in Robert's memory.
There will be a celebration of life picnic this coming summer. Details will be made available to all at a later date.
Arrangements by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
