Obituary

Ronald W. Ewing, 87, of Lynde St., Plattsburgh passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at his winter home in Kissimmee, Florida.

Ron was born in Plattsburgh on February 29, 1936 the son of Henry and Elise (Twinning) Ewing. After graduating from MAI, Ron enrolled in the military serving 4 years in the United States Air Force, as a security police officer in the Korean War, Albuquerque New Mexico and Japan. Ron returned back to the north country where he attended barber shop in Buffalo NY, after graduating from barber school he opened his own barber shop on Peru St. In 1969 he began his career as a law enforcement officer with the Clinton County Sheriff's Department, serving his community as a Deputy Sheriff for 38 years, retiring 2004. The highlights of his career were spent patrolling Lake Champlain, over the years Ron got the nickname "Lake Lord". Over the span of his career, he was instrumental in teaching the New York State Parks and Rec boater safety course with his partner Deputy Hilliker for many years. When Ron wasn't enforcing the law, you could find him cutting hair at the Trinity Barber Shop that he owned and operated for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Diana R. Ewing of Plattsburgh; his son R. Scott Ewing of Plattsburgh; Sylvia A. Johnson of Bernallilo, NM, Timothy J. Johnson of Rio Rancho, NM, Linda Zath of Rio Rancho, NM, John L. Myers of Perkins, OK, Tina J. Myers of Perkins, OK, Cheyanne A. Myers of Oklahoma City, OK, and Justin L. Myers of Ft. Worth, TX.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Donations may be made to Clinton County Sheriff PBA, District 3 Fire Department or the North Country Honor Flight.
