Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Ronald "Ron" Hepburn, 73, of Plattsburgh, New York, passed away peacefully at his family home on September 4, 2021.

He was born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin on August 25, 1948, son of Lloyd and Emma (Asp) Hepburn.

Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and retired in 1989 as a Senior Master Sergeant.  During his military career, Ron was stationed in numerous locations around the world and served as an aircraft mechanic.

In 1968, Ron met the love of his life, Kathi, and they married on November 2, 1968, in Port Huron, Michigan.

After retiring from Plattsburgh Air Force Base, Ron and his family settled in the Plattsburgh area and he continued to work at various places including Day Brothers Boats, Schonbeck's, and the Bluff Point Golf and Country Club.

Ron enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, collecting coins, working on jigsaw puzzles, watching NASCAR races, and going to the races at Airborne Speedway for over 30 years; he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish the memory of Ron are his wife of almost 53 years, Kathleen "Kathi" Hepburn; his daughters, Lynn Hepburn and Elizabeth "Kate" Hepburn; granddaughter, Brianna Hepburn and her fiancé Richard (Claude) Harland, III, all of Plattsburgh; brother, Lloyd Hepburn of Maple, Wisconsin; sister, Jean (Harvey) Corbin of Foxboro, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Richard "Nick" Wisson of Austin, Texas;  sister-in-law, Jeri (Robert) Leonard of Eagle River, Alaska;  aunt-in-law, Marion Lyons of Port Huron, Michigan; his best friend of almost 40 years, Donald "Donny" Dayton of Plattsburgh; and his beloved dog Max a/k/a Big Guy.  Ron is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ron was predeceased by his parents; sister, Ruth Hoyt; brother-in-law, Marvin Hoyt; brother, Dean Hepburn; father-in-law, Ret. Master Sergeant Theodore "Ted" Wisson; mother-in-law, Beverly "Jane" Wisson; and brother-in-law, Sergeant Theodore "Teddy" Wisson.

The family also wishes to thank and extend their sincere gratitude to everyone at the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, most especially Dr. Whitman and Rachel Hite, as well as everyone on R7 at CVPH.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or Hospice of the North Country.
