Rose Marie Martin, 84, of Siwanoy Lane, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026 at CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Samuel Robert and Doris (Jones) Portera.

Rose worked in many clerical positions in the Plattsburgh area as well as several years at Merkel’s Dept Store. Rose also was part of the Cumberland Head Auxiliary for many years. Rose loved cooking Italian recipes that were handed down, crafting - (she could turn anything into something special by adding lace and rhinestones), spending time with family as well as taking her chances at the Casino with her good friends Roger and Karen. Rose made every holiday special with planning, decorating and a list of recipes to be enjoyed by all.

Rose married Carl J. Martin on July 10, 1965 in Brookside, Alabama.

Survivors include her daughters Angela (Ronald) Orr, Leslie (Rahn) Marion and April Martin and (Kyle Reynolds); sister Deborah Keeton; grandchildren Josh (Amanda) Fleming, Ariel Hicks, Dereck (Ciara) Fleming, Brantley Marion, Jessica (Mitchell) Trost, Carlya Bermudez, Anthony Marion, Gaige and Bentley Reynolds; great-grandchildren Aria Reinman, Tucker, Charleigh and Gannon Hicks, Colt and Henry Fleming, Riley Tompkins and Violet Barber; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, sister Deanna Wright.

Her spicy Italian ways will remain unforgotten - we will miss her and cherish all the memories we had over the years.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 21st, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Funeral will follow at 6:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be held Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
