Roswell married the former Barbara Rock on September 28, 1957 at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. They raised their only child, Mary, with Roswell taking great pride in his role as a father. Roswell and Barbara were together for 70 years, and were reunited shortly after Barbara's passing.

He retired from the Air Force in 1975 at the rank of First Sergeant. After retiring, Roswell worked for his family's business, Morrisonville Construction, alongside his brother, sister-in-law and nephew; times that he enjoyed greatly.
Roswell was an avid reader, with a vast collection of books on history, guns, and the Adirondacks. He enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, especially those of his son-in-law and granddaughters. Roswell and Barbara spent a great deal of time at their camps in Bloomingdale and Lake Clear; hunting deer together, taking their granddaughters fishing, and teaching them important lessons about life. He enjoyed talking with friends and family about nearly every subject with some of his favorites being firearms, Yankees baseball, cars, and hunting in the Adirondacks. In later times he would spend hours listening to music and reminiscing with his wife about all of the wonderful memories they had shared.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary (Scott) Baker; grandchildren, Anne Marie (Matthew) White and Christine (Nicholas) Stowe; 5 great-grandchildren (Avery, Ryleigh and Austin White and Colton and Vera Stowe); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Francis (Janis) Rock, Greg (Brenda) Rock, Linda LaDuke and Brenda Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
