It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother Ruby E. Hughes, of Chazy, New York, who passed away on June 17, 2025 at the age of 91.
She was born on March 31, 1934 in Plattsburgh, New York to Doris and Earnest Wilson.
Ruby married Howard D. Hughes on March 31, 1955. They shared 55 years of love and memories and raised five daughters together.
She retired from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals as a Line Inspector after 25 years of work.
Ruby grew up in Chazy and graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in the class of 1952.
Ruby had a passion for her strong Christian faith and her Church community in which she was an active member. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years. Ruby was a kitchen manager at Mooers Camp Meeting for a number of years. Howard and Ruby served as Church Treasurers for many years as well. She also volunteered at CVPH in the Geriatric Wing after retirement.
Some of her hobbies included reading, entertaining friends and family, sewing, word searches and animals, especially cats. Ruby loved cooking and had an extensive collection of cookbooks and recipes.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Karen Anderson and husband David, Kathy Trahan and husband Mark, Karla Seymour and husband Edmund, Kristie Wetzel and partner Dan Schutzman; grandchildren Lindsay Grindle, Bailey Monty and husband Vincent, and Ryan Seymour; great grandson Harlan Monty.
Ruby was predeceased by her daughter, Kim Sykora; her husband, Howard; her son-in-law, James Champagne; and her granddaughter, Meagan Giroux.
Calling hours will be at the Mooers Wesleyan Church on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral following at 11:00.
Committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers , donations in her memory may be made to The Mooers Wesleyan Church or the SPCA in Peru NY.
