Latour
December 14, 1920 – September 10, 2018
PLATTSBURGH – Russell J. Latour, was called to the loving arms of the Lord on September 10, 2018.
He was born on December 14, 1920 to the late Nelson and Mary (Paul) Latour.
He was employed by Plattsburgh Ice Company for 10 years, the Shoremont Motel for 14 years, BFD for 5 years and for SUNY Plattsburgh for 16 years retiring in 1980. Most remember Russell for his gift of music. His accordion was his best friend. He performed this skill on local radio stations WMFF and WPTZ Channels. His passion was country western music.
Russsell was predeceased by his late wife, Rita (Crist) Latour, his companions, Lila Roberts and Jean Beardsley. Also brothers, Edward, Henry, Oscar, Alden, Ralph, Herbert and Fred. Sisters include Lillian, Ida and Pauline. Son, Russell Latour, Jr. and daughter, Janice Laramie.
Russell is survived by many loving family members and friends. daughters include, Sandra Garrow, Elizabeth (Sue) Douglas and Donna Hoskins. Sons include Walter N. Latour and spouse, Kathi (Polhemus) and Wayne Latour, Sr. Russell also had many grandchildren, including Jennifer (Latour) and John Fuller, Kendall (Latour) and Mike Lykens, Dylan Latour and companion, Britany Perry, Monica and Jason Gonzales, Jessica Gamble and John Hughes, Frankie and Wayne Latour, Jr. and he was blessed with many great-grandchildren. Russell loved his special friend Carol Hart.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, in Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
