Ladue
July 21, 1920 – December 20, 2019
PLATTSB URGH - Ruth Alice Ladue slipped the bonds on Earth on December 20, 2019, six months short of her 100 th birthday. She was born July 21, 1920 the only daughter of Dr. William and Alice Hagar Ladue. She graduated from PHS in 1938 and Ithaca College in 1942.
After teaching at Chateaugay High School for a year she enlisted into Women's Army Corps and was stationed in Atlanta, Georgia where she trained in the emerging field of Physical Therapy. She was honorably discharged as 2 nd Lieutenant in 1946.
After the War, Ruth lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, working with patients at Riley Hospital for Children. Physiotherapy became her passion and she earned her MS in Physical Therapy from Stanford University in 1962.
Ruth returned to Plattsburgh where she joined the Clinton County Health Department and assumed responsibility for all physical therapy services. In 1965, she returned to Indiana where she joined the faculty of the University of Indiana's Physical Therapy Department. She retired in 1982 and returned to her family home in Plattsburgh, "Wild Thyme," the family camp on Cumberland Head, and ultimately Meadowbrook Nursing Home.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her three brothers, Dr. William Ladue, Robert Ladue, and John Ladue and her nephews Robin Ladue and Winslow Ladue.
She is survived by Stephen Ladue, Peter Ladue, Alice Tallon, Thomas Ladue, Ginny King, Barbara Easterbrook, William Ladue, Debbie Baker and Lance Ladue. Numerous great and great-grand nephews and nieces, cousins, countless students and patients who benefited from her loyal dedicated service live on in appreciation for Ruth's presence in their lives.
Internment services will be held at Riverside Cemetery at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020. Face covering will be required.
Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church or to the charity of one's choice.
