BEEKMANTOWN – Ruth C. Ashline, 82, of Haynes Rd. Beekmantown since 1962, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 surrounded by family at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Plattsburgh on May 22, 1939 the daughter of Allen and Bertha (Olyer) Caswell.
Ruth graduated high school in 1958 and attended O.L.V.A. Secretarial School. After school, she went to work for Bud Neverett Lawyer, and a few local CPAs, then retiring from the Town of Beekmantown as a secretary/bookkeeper after 28 years. She was a member of the VFW #1466 Auxiliary and the Girl Scouts and was very active in the Busy Bee's Social group in Beekmantown. In her spare time Ruth enjoyed working on family genealogy, noting that her maternal grandparents were one of the first families to settle in Lyon Mountain and working in her flower garden.
She married her high school sweetheart, Leeward Ashline at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora in 1960 and started raising her family.
Survivors include her husband, Leeward Ashline of Beekmantown; son Richard and Dawn Ashline of Beekmantown; daughters, Susan and Steve Trombley of Beekmantown, Carolyn and Mark Johnson of Newfield NH; sister-in-law, Jean Caswell of Churubusco; beloved grandchildren, Emily (Patrick), Stephanie (Mark), Pamela (Rob), Bethany (Joe), Zachary, Alyssa (Bryton); cherished six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Luke, Ava, Ella, Theodore, Lorelai and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, sister, Betty Meyer and brothers George Caswell and Allen (Bud) Caswell.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with funeral to follow in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Saranac Independence Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the V.F.W. # 1466 in memory of Ruth.
