PLATTSBURGH- Ruth Fitzpatrick, 97, formerly of Maple St., Dannemora, NY., passed away Friday, June 14, 2024 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Queens, NY on February 19, 1927 the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Seufert) Scheidt.

Ruth married John Fitzpatrick on October 11, 1953.

During WWII Ruth volunteered at local hospitals in Queens. After John's military service, they made their home in Dannemora. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. She also belonged to the Happy Mountaineer Senior Citizens Club, was a founding member of the Sweet Adeline's, and sang at many local weddings and community events.

Ruth was an LPN at Clinton County Nursing Home, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include her sons, John Fitzpatrick Jr. of Dannemora, Peter (Cathy) Fitzpatrick of Jacksonville FL; her daughters Margaret "Peggy" Fitzpatrick of Dannemora, Eileen Fitzpatrick and her husband Louis Hirshorn of Los Angeles, CA; 6 grandchildren, Ted (Evan), Gretchen, Lawrence, Brigid, Colleen (Frank), Anna (Alejandro); 2 great-grandchildren, Maeve and Fiona.

She was predeceased by her husband John Fitzpatrick in 1998.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
