A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

at the Point Au Roche Cemetery.

BEEKMANTOWN - Ruth Gonya, 86, of Point au Roche Road, passed away December 12, 2025.

She was born in Glens Falls on January 5, 1939, daughter of Clifford and Doris (Pattee) Mound.

She married Willis Gonya on July 15, 1961 in Glens Falls, NY.  Willis predeceased her on October 8, 2023.

Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse for many years until her retirement from Saranac Central School.

She had a passion for doing crafts, gardening, and especially making memories with her grandchildren.  In her younger days, Ruth enjoyed square dancing.

She was also a member of the West Chazy Community Church.

Survivors include her sons, Carl Gonya of Beekmantown, Thomas Gonya of Beekmantown; daughter Susan (Dana) Richards of Beekmantown; grandchildren William Gonya, Nathanael Gonya, Dana Richards Jr., Daniel Richards, Annika Gonya; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents; husband;  and three siblings, Robert Mound, Irene (Mound) Mead, and George Mound.

A graveside service will take place in the spring in Point au Roche Cemetery.
