D'Aran

PLATTSBURGH-- Sandra Jean D'Aran passed away Friday, January 27 TH , 2023. Sandra, affectionately known by most as Sandy, was born September 21 st , 1938, in Morristown, NJ, to the late Pierson and Margaret (Cook) Freeman. She spent her early years in Morristown and was the recipient of a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
She worked as a Medical Technologist in Denver, Colorado; Great Falls, Montana; and most recently at the UVM Medical Center at the CVPH Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY. She was a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club in Plattsburgh; a docent at the Rockwell Kent Museum and Art Department at SUNY Plattsburgh; and a member of the Plattsburgh Trinity Episcopal Church. Sandra was well traveled and had been to many destinations including Hawaii, Thailand, China, and France.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents and her former husband, William F. D'Aran, M.D.
She is survived by her sister Carol Freeman Michel of Williston, VT, and her four children; William (Alena) D'Aran of Duncan, SC; Ellen (Travis) Giroux of Plattsburgh, NY ; Kate (Troy) Cochran of Saratoga Springs, NY; David (Nina) D'Aran of South Berwick, ME; nine loving grandchildren Mason, Jack, Lucas, Hannah, Travis, Elijah, Stella, Asher, and Sabine; niece Jill (Karl) Hellstrand of Southington, CT; nephew Jean-Marc (Lori) Michel of Columbia, MD; and five grandniece and nephews McKinley, Jameson, Charlotte, Zoe, and Amelia; and several Kehler and Cook cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11 th from 1 to 3 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in Morristown, NJ. A reception will follow at the Butcher Block Adirondack Room in Plattsburgh at 4 p.m.
