PLATTSBURGH – Heaven gained an angel, Sandra A. Simpson, 82, of Rt. 9 South, passed away Sunday morning May 30, 2021, surrounded by her crazy loving family.
Sandy was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on November 30, 1938 the daughter of Norman and Janet (Brownell) Wood. She married Robert Simpson in Burlington Vermont on July 23, 1960. They made their home in Plattsburgh where she raised her family and worked side by side with her husband at Simpson's Bait & Tackle.
Sandy enjoyed knitting hats for the NICU and family get togethers, where there was plenty of laughter, stories and great food.
Survivors include her children, Robert "Bob" and Lisa Simpson, of Plattsburgh, Robin Simpson and Mark Varin, of Plattsburgh, Julie Simpson and Casey Burdeau, of Plattsburgh, Christopher Simpson and companion, Elizabeth of Rome, NY; sister, Patricia Wells of Colchester, VT.; grandchildren, Alexsandra Simpson, T.J. Daniels, Lauren (Tom) Brindisi, Cori-Ann (Chad) Martineau, Ryan Simpson, Joel Simpson; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and Liz Brown, Ginger Rocheleau, Kathi Hepburn, Don and Lil Cassidy.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents, and her loving husband of 38 years.
Calling hours will be held Friday June 4, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country in memory of Sandy. Known to many as Mammy she will be truly missed.
