CHAZY LAKE - Shirley "Nana" Charland, 80, of Chazy Lake, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born January 8, 1943 in Riverview, to the late Michael and Bernadette Wood. She was the youngest of seven children, and graduated High School in Redford, NY.

Shirley married the love of her life, Robert G. Charland on January 20, 1962 at the Church of the Assumption in Redford.  Robert predeceased her on May 30, 2015 and they are now once again reunited together.

Shirley worked for over 18 years at K-Mart in Plattsburgh retiring as the Front End Supervisor.

She loved to be outdoors in her flower gardens and tending to the wildlife at her home.  Whether she was feeding the ducks in the yard, or watching the hummingbirds at their feeder, being outdoors brought her much happiness and joy.

Above all else in Shirley's life, was her love of family.  She was a caring, loving and selfless woman who always put others before herself.  Shirley was always so proud of her children and grandchildren, and her glowing smile will forever be remembered by all those who were fortunate to be a part of her life.

Shirley leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children, Donna Charland and Jim Follett, Robert and Jessica Charland, Chris Charland, and Darcy Burnell and Harrison Hobbs; grandchildren, Katie Charland and Christina Peryer, Emily and Jake Liberty, Hannah Charland and Nick LaGoy, Michael and Kathryn Charland, and Kelli Charland;  siblings, Ronald and Gail Wood, Betty Lapier, and Greta Wood;  and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her son-in-law, Stephen Burnell;  siblings Victor (Lucille) Wood, Beulah (Francis) Venne, and Lloyd (Ruth) Wood;  and brother-in-law, Maurice Lapier.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
