Obituary

PLATTSBURGH--- Sterling J. Sorrell (Goose), 88, of Cumberland Head, passed away, September 5, 2019.

He was born in Plattsburgh on February 6, 1931, son of Tyler and Florence (Boswell) Sorrell.

Sterling served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He married Louise Bushey on January 31, 1958.

Sterling worked on the D&H Railroad as a Signal Mechanic for twenty-seven years. He joined the Morrisonville Fire Department in 1949 and was an active member serving as a firefighter, an officer and as commissioner.

Sterling was also a member of the American Legion Post 1619 for over 67 years, the Elks Club for 50 years, and a life member of VFW Post 125.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Louise Sorrell of Plattsburgh; children, James Sorrell of Florida and Patricia (Rodney) Baker of Morrisonville; grandson, Brett (Christina) Baker; great-grandsons, Dylan, Declan, and Killian Baker; brother, Herling "Midge" Sorrell; sister, Sally Griffin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Adeline, Barbara, Charles, Anne, and Clarence "Smokey"; and many nieces and nephews.

Sterling was predeceased by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gwladys and Raymond Bushey; and brothers-in-law, Allen and George.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
