PLATTSBURGH- Steven J. Burgess, 62, of Point Au Roche Rd. Plattsburgh passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on December 23, 1961 the son of Joseph and Sylvia (Rock) Burgess.

Steven attended Saranac High School and graduated from Clinton Community College.

He married the former Anne Castle on June 17th, 1989.

Steven was a truck driver for Giroux Poultry in Chazy for over 30 years.

Growing up he was an active member of the Boy Scouts, in 1993 he became a one of the leaders in his son's Cub Scout Pack and later Troop 46.

He was Re-enactor of Living History since 1983, portraying soldiers from the French and Indian war through to the Civil War, in particular the Battle of Plattsburgh.

Once the Christmas season came, you may have seen Steven dressed as Santa, helping where he could to bring a little Christmas joy for a Toys for Tot fundraiser.

Survivors include his wife Anne Burgess of Plattsburgh; son Anthony Burgess (Julia) of Chesapeake, Va. and Grandchildren Peyton and Hunter Burgess, Ella and Gabe Levinson; daughter Samantha Burgess of Orlando, Fl; brothers Jeffrey (Peggy) Burgess of Morrisonville, Andrew (Susan) Burgess of Cadyville, Michael Burgess of Cadyville; sister-in-law Sarah Burgess of Saranac; several nieces and nephews.

Steven was predeceased by his parents,and brother Edward Burgess.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00pm in the funeral home chapel.

Donations may be made to Plattsburgh Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or the Plattsburgh Boy Scouts of America.
