Obituary

PLATTSBURGH --- Suzanne M. Perras, 89, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT. She was born October 19, 1928 in Peru, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Sample) Perras.

Her family moved to the Valcour area near Plattsburgh the same year Suzanne was born. In her early years, she attended a one room school house in Valcour. She graduated from St John's Academy in 1945 and went on to attend the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital School of Nursing graduating as an RN in 1948. Suzanne was very dedicated to being a nurse. She worked at CVPH and as a nurse for a local pediatrician. In the 1950s Suzanne moved to Albany, NY where she was a nurse at the Memorial Hospital for 35 years, spending most of those years in the pediatric department. She returned to Plattsburgh to help care for her mother. She was active in her community volunteering at CVPH Medical Center. The past few years she dedicated her time to caring for her sister, Eileen. In her younger years Suzanne enjoyed skiing, golfing, bowling and in her later years she enjoyed knitting, reading and watching the Yankees. She loved going to the races in Saratoga, spending time at the beach and renting a camp on Cape Cod or Lake Champlain in the summer. She enjoyed organizing family get-togethers and also decorating at Christmas. Most of all Suzanne enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She made sure to send each of them a birthday card every year.

Suzanne was predeceased by her parents, two brothers Frederick "Ted" Perras of Plattsburgh and Reginald Perras of Saranac Lake, N.Y. and one sister, G. Eileen Perras of Plattsburgh.

She is survived by her two sisters, Lita Chauvin Bechard of Plattsburgh and Shirley Abraham and her husband Joseph also of Plattsburgh; fourteen nieces and nephews, Janice Byer and her husband John of Glendale, CA, Gene Chauvin of Peru, N.Y., Neil Chauvin of Beekmantown, N.Y., Donna Fountain and her husband Derrick of Beekmantown, Shelley Facos and her husband Tony of Montpelier, VT, Denise Sharon of Chazy N.Y., Christine Tucker and her husband Harry of Fitzgerald, GA, Daniel Abraham and his wife Moira of Westfield N.J., Sandra Boyle and her husband Stephen of Warwick, R.I., Kathleen Pavelchek and her husband Edward of Stow, MA, William Perras of Plattsburgh, Michel Perras and his wife Pamela of Portsmouth, R.I., Theodore Joseph Perras and his wife Ann of Lawrenceville, GA, MaryBeth Sullivan of Saranac Lake, N.Y., twenty five great nieces and nephews, and thirteen great-great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday September 20thfrom 4 to 6 p.m. at R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church in Plattsburgh N.Y. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the Foundation of CVPH-Pediatrics 75 Beekman Street Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
