PLATTSBURGH – Sylvia R. Brown, 94, of Nevada Oval, passed away, February 20, 2019 at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Manhattan, NY, second oldest of five children to John and Anita (Fellin) Rossi on May 6, 1924.

Sylvia met the love of her life in Onchiota, NY Maurice E. "Pete" Brown and they married on September 10, 1949. They were married for 67 years when Pete passed away on August 17, 2016 after a lengthy illness of Parkinson's Disease.

Sylvia graduated from Somerset Valley College in 1973 and became a Registered Nurse, working in various hospitals until her retirement.

She and her husband were charter member of the Lake Forest Senior Living Community. Sylvia was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Peter's Church. Her interests were playing bridge and quilting, from which she received many ribbons. She and Pete were avid world travelers, and she said she never felt at home until she returned home to the Adirondacks.

She dearly loved her family – children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son, Stephen J. Brown and wife Becky; daughter, Cathleen M. Pagano and husband Peter; grandchildren, Joshua Brown and wife Jennifer, Christopher Pagano and wife Amanda, Kristen Walker and husband Richard, Matthew Pagano, and Lauren Gundrum and husband Matthew; great-grandchildren, Finley Walker, Kellen Walker, Noah Brown, Eloise Gundrum, Sophia Brown, and Dawson Pagano; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Sylvia was predeceased by her sister Helen Peter and brothers, John, Roland, and Albert Rossi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23rd from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Pediatric Hystology/Oncology Unit, Baird 5, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT.
