Obituary

PLATTSBURGH - Terry Joseph Condo of Plattsburgh, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital following a short battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was two weeks shy of 74 years.

Terry was born and raised in Plattsburgh. After graduating from Mount Assumption Institute he attended Adirondack Community College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He was trained at Parris Island, South Carolina and sent on to flight school in Memphis, Tennessee. He served in Vietnam for 19 months and was awarded two Purple Heart Medals while there. He achieved the rank of sergeant while at the Naval Air Station in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania where he served until his honorary discharge in 1970.

Once back to civilian life, he went on to study at Albany Pharmacy College, but switched gears and entered investment management training with Merrill Lynch in New York City. Eventually he found his way back to Plattsburgh via First Albany, but the siren call of music at WIRY lured him away. If he wasn't out and about networking in the community, he was on a golf course practicing his most passionate love.

Terry was a voracious reader, gifted with a remarkable steel trap mind. He was able to recall every detail, read or heard, and loved winning in local trivia matches with his teammates of Joe, Ryan, and Parker. He pined for Yankee Baseball and loved watching a great hockey game. A big part of his community commitment was to the youth baseball and hockey programs. He had a special talent for making everyone smile and laugh and could tell a joke like no other!

The pride of Terry's life was his blended family. Together with his wife, Allison Smith Condo, he shared the joys of raising five children: Joseph Condo (Michelle) of Naples, Florida, Michael Condo (Kelly) of Richmond, Virginia, Tia Avery (Arthur de Grandpre) of Mount Vernon, New York, Jason Avery (Amanda) of Guilderland, New York, and Bradford Avery (Laurel) of Manassas, Virginia. Seven precious grandchildren followed: Carter, Caleb, Elizabeth, Alexander, Ryan, Ian, and Jake. Tolly and baby brother expectee have joined the family.

Also surviving are Terry's sister Joyce O'Keefe (William) of Syracuse, New York, brother Joseph Condo (Chris) of Vienna, Virginia, and brother-in-law James Cieri (Ellen) of McCormick, South Carolina. A daughter from a first marriage, Amy van den Broeck (Robert Senska) of Albany, New York survives. Several nieces, nephews and cousins survive as well.

Terry was predeceased by his parents Madeline Welsh Condo and Joseph Anthony Condo, founder of Condo Pharmacy, and sister Ellen Cieri.

Terry's remains will be interred in the National Cemetery in Saratoga, New York. When safe to gather, family and friends will celebrate a life well lived, for Terry was the kindest, most caring, compassionate man, the very best.

The Condo family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Arja and the expert nursing staff at CVPH ICU for such tender, loving care of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin through the last weeks of his life.
