PLATTSBURGH– Velma P. Gainer, 99, passed away, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 26, 1922 the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Caron) Caron.

Velma married Herman Gainer in 1941. He passed away in 1983.

She was a special woman who took loving care of her family. She was always there to help in any way she could.

Survivors include sons, Paul and Joanne Gainer, Jay and Winnie Gainer, Jon and Brenda Gainer, David Gainer and Tammy LaFountain; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Velma was predeceased by her husband Herman, daughter Pamela Linstruth, brothers, Alfred Caron, Mose Caron, Andrew Caron and Wilfred Caron; sisters, Gertrude Demerse, Ferna Reid Facteau and Mary Lydia Bradley.

Calling hours will be Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
