Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Vernall J. Jabaut, Jr., 92, of Waterhouse Street, passed away on October 7, 2022 unexpectedly at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on December 13, 1929 to Vernall and Amelia (Couture) Jabaut Sr.

Vernall known to everybody as Junior, and was well known and loved.

He was a veteran serving in the Marine Corps as a Pfc from 1952-1954, he was honorably discharged with three medals, the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

Vernall had been a crossing guard for 35 years for the Plattsburgh City School District.

Vernall enjoyed playing bingo, cards and spending time with the family. He was very loving and caring and would help anybody in need.

Survivors include his long-time companion, Lucille Powers; son Wayne Jabaut, daughter; Nicole Clukey-VanValkenburg; Lucille's children, Sandy and Rick, who considered Vernall their step-father, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his former wife, Myrtle Jabaut.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Norman, two sisters, Gladys and Betty Jane and two sons, Michael and Rodney, a grandchild and great-grandchildren.

A graveside Military Service will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 9:00 am at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to the family, in care of Nicole Clukey at 916 Plank Road, Ellenburg Depot, NY 12935.
