Willard Miller, 93, passed away on May 23, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, on December 8, 1932 the son of Willard and Jenny (Stone) Miller.
Willard married Betty Weaver on October 25, 1952 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. They were married for 62 years before his beloved wife passed in 2015.
Willard proudly served our country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1961. He was a clarinetist in the Army Band.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Willard and Betty raised their four children in Plattsburgh. Pops, as Willard was called by his grandchildren, took great interest in their lives and activities. He greatly enjoyed supporting and attending their sporting events. He was very proud of all of their academic and athletic achievements.
Will loved spending time with his extended family, his brothers, sisters and many friends, pursing his hobbies and simple joys of life. Over his long life he enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, golf, dining out, and square dancing with Betty as his partner. He never tired of searching for the perfect slice of pizza and a cold beer to wash it down.
He worked for the D&H Railroad as an electrician and Signalman for many years until his retirement.
A devout Catholic, Willard was a man of faith. He was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Parish. Prayers and reciting the rosary were sustaining rituals in his daily devotion to God and the Virgin Mary. His family takes great comfort in the knowledge that he is certainly at peace with them now.
Survivors include his children, Gary and Cathy Miller of Indianapolis, IN, Susan and Blake Frechette of Plattsburgh, Laurie and Peter Beaudin of Plattsburgh, Randall and Paula Miller of Rouses Point; grandchildren John Brittingham, Jesse Miller, Justin Frechette, Meghan Southwick, Sarah Beaudin, Elijah Beaudin, Logan Miller, Abbie Miller; great-grandchildren Blake J. Frechette, Ava, Liam and Grayson Southwick. Willard is also survived by his sisters, brothers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Betty, grandson Brian Kavanaugh, granddaughter Stacey Frechette, a sister and brother.
