Obituary

WILLARD R. BOB WALKER MOOERS FORKS: Willard R. Bob Walker, 82, of 37 Bush Road, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family and Ginger his canine companion. He was born in Altona, N.Y. on August 17, 1929, the son of Clarence and Lena (Brunell) Walker. Bob attended the Blackman Road School in Mooers Forks and Mooers Central School. Bob, also known as Wimpy , served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He married Doris E. Jubert on June 6, 1954. Bob worked in various positions, including Plattsburgh Quarry until he found his passion, driving truck for Anchor Motor Freight in Champlain from 1969 until 1991, when he retired. He was a member of the VFW Post #1418, Twin Bridges and a member of the American Legion, Post #767, both of Champlain. Bob enjoyed his family and his home, spending time at the family camp, The Old Mill , during the summer and doing puzzles during the winter, riding around in his truck, watching the birds at the feeders in his backyard, and gardening with his son David. Survivors include his wife, Doris of 57 years of Mooers Forks and eight children; two sons, David Walker of Mooers Forks, Brian and Alice Walker of Clarksville, TN; six daughters, Carol and Gary Cardin of Mooers Forks, Donna and James Rabideau, Sr. of Mooers Forks, Dolores and Steven Kopp of Las Vegas, NV, Joan Walker and Robert LePage of Mooers, Eileen Walker Rabideau and her companion James Marbut of Mooers Forks and Phyllis and John Coryea of Rouses Point. He is also survived by two brothers; George Walker of Canandaigua and Bernard Walker of West Chazy; three sisters, Clara Tripodi of Canandaigua, Marion and Willis Pete Morrison of Champlain, Clarice Ethel and Wright Sample, Jr. of Mooers Forks; three step-brothers, Norbert and Jean Yakey of Champlain, Richard and Nancy Yakey of Uticia, Brian and Elaine Yakey of Conn. He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Lynn Dominic, Gary John Cardin, Jimmy, Jennifer and Josh Rabideau, Jason McDonald and Kristy LaBonte, Jessica Brunell, Carrie, Bobby and Katie Rabideau, Courtney, Rachel and Johni Rae Coryea, Zackary and Harold Walker; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Cleora Yakey Walker, three sisters; Vivian Walker, Bernice Wilson and Margaret Gadway; one brother, Owen Walker and one step-brother, Scott Yakey. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the R.W.Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Robert W. Walker Memorial Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Mooers Fire Department or the American Red Cross. A gathering for family and friends will be held at St. Anns Parish Hall in Mooers Forks following the service.
