William George
Carr
January 8, 1943 – August 4, 2021
PLATTSBURGH – William George Carr passed away on August 4, 2021 after a battle with cancer with his family by his side.
William "Bill" "Mustang" was born on January 8, 1943, to George and Jean (Mehan) Carr in Plattsburgh, NY. He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1961 and proudly served around the world in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968.
Bill and Patricia (Desautels) Carr were together for 15 years and then married on June 18, 1998. He graduated from Clinton Community College in 1998 with an AAS in Electrical Technology, and he retired from Bombardier in 2007.
Bill was a huge car enthusiast and had a great love for the Ford Mustang. He was a member of the North Country Classics and he could be found all over the North Country and surrounding areas attending and participating in car shows and cruise ins on most weekends.
Bill was a life-long obsessed Buffalo Bills fan. He will surely be missed supporting the team this season. Go Bills!!! And Bill was a proud member of The American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh.
"Bill" "Mustang" was known for his big smile, love for his Mustangs, commitment to his car groups, enjoying meals at his regular local restaurants Michigan Plus, Bazzanos, and Pizza Palace and most importantly the love of his wife and family, if he was visiting with family and there were kids around him he was a happy man. We were all fortunate to have him bless our lives.
Bill was predeceased by his parents George R Carr and Jean (Mehan) Carr, his sister Mary Lynn Carr, and his nephew David Carr. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Desautels) Carr; their children Vicki (George) Walsh, Amy (Mark) Whitney, Amy (Rick) Burdt, Mark Gadway and Kelli Zada; his siblings Jim Carr, Corrie (Mike) Lawler, Barbara Carr and Kim (Eric) Broeker; 16 grandchildren – Ashlie Jump, Taylor Walsh, Keirstin Whitney, Emily (Dan) Moore, Victoria Whitney, Mark (Madison) Whitney, Robert (Haylee) Holt, Tyler Goheens, Christopher Goheens, Joseph Goheens, Ashtyn Phillips, Caelum Gadway, Liam Gadway, Caidence Howard, CJ Zada and Luke Gervais. 8 great-grandchildren – Blake Moore, Avery Whitney-Currier, Scarlett Whitney, Mason Moore, Cullen Flynn, Natalee Acors, Abigail Holt and Hudson Holt; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Heather, Ashley and Becky from Hospice of the North Country for their help, compassion and care.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
A military graveside service will be held on Friday September 3 rd at 12 o'clock in St. Peter's cemetery (we'd love to have fellow veteran's participate), a cruise around town with Bill's car club and anyone wanting to join will follow and then onto Meron's for his celebration of life. His family is looking forward to hearing great stories so that we all can share lots of laughter and joy on his behalf. Family and friends are proving munchies and snacks at Meron's while we visit.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to go towards funeral costs.
