WEST CHAZY – William Connelly, Sr., 83, of Stony Acres Drive, passed away, May 31, 2020.
He was born in Plattsburgh on April 23, 1937, son of Walter and Lillian (Favro) Connelly of Rouses Point.
Bill graduated from Rouses Point High School in 1955 and his first job was with W.W. Getty's Hardware. He then went to Smith Transport (U.S.) Ltd as a night dispatcher and soon after was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years where he held several positions, including, City Carrier, 204B, Officer in Charge, and the United States Civil Service Road Test Examiner. During this time Bill also worked as a part-time bartender at the Hotel Holland.
Along with his best friend and business partner, Dick Letourneau, he owned and operated Trophies and Awards from 1971-1992.
Bill was involved with the Rouses Point Softball Club for 40 years, the Rouses Point Bowling Association for 50 years, and after retirement, enjoyed going to daily mass at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.
Bill is survived by his five children who were all born on Friday as he was and as well as his father, Mark and Cindy Connelly, Bill and Lesley Connelly, Jr., John and Sherry Connelly, AnnMarie and Jim Gilman, and Michael and Darcy Connelly; his longtime companion, Beverly Boas; brothers, Michael (LouAnne) Connelly and Jerry (Mary DiBernardo) Connelly; sisters, Marlene Beal, Kathleen (Norman) Bechard, and Gail (Danny) Carey; sisters-in-law, Therese Connelly, Linda Connelly, Donna Connelly, and Shirley Juneau; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Walter Connelly and Greg Connelly; sister, Mary (Andy) Juneau; brother-in-law, Arnie Beal; sister-in-law, Vicki Connelly; ex-wife, Joan Connelly; and fiancée, Mary Lane.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain.
