William "Bill" Mahnk, 69, of Plattsburgh, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Lockport, NY on August 27, 1953, the son of Eugene and Helen (Freeman) Mahnk.

Bill was an athlete in high school, lettering in football, wrestling, baseball and tennis. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school and spent 21 years as a Tech Sergeant with the fire department stationed at numerous bases including Alaska, Germany, Hancock Field in Syracuse, Lakenheath in England and finally, Plattsburgh Air Base. After retiring, he worked at Walmart in Plattsburgh holding numerous positions before retiring after 21 years of service.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his loving fiance, Penny, barbecuing, watching John Wayne westerns, drinking an ice cold Pepsi, being a grumpapotamus and listening to records. Creedence Clearwater Revival being one of his favorites.

He is survived by his fiance, Penny Marvin, two children, Tara and Jonathan Mahnk, and his cousin, Jerry (Holly) Ross.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Eugene Mahnk, and his brother, Craig Mahnk.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Military honors will follow at 6:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
