Obituary

William G. "Billy" Wiese, 85, of Morrisonville, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at CVPH Hospital with his three children by his side.

Born on May 2, 1940, in Canton, NY, Billy was the son of William G.H. Wiese and Genevieve Amo Wiese. He is preceded in death by his brother, Paul "Butch" and his sisters Janet and Karen, and is survived by his youngest brother Tim.

Billy graduated from Knox Memorial Central School in Russell and later attended Canton ATC and SUNY Potsdam. Billy proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1958 and went on to serve in the reserves for eight years. He began his working life at the Power Authority in Massena, but soon followed in his father's footsteps to pursue a career in education.

Billy is survived by his former wife Verna Allen, and mother of his three children, Bill Jr. of Plattsburgh, Penny Wiese of Morrisonville, and Julie Wiese of Plattsburgh.

A lifelong educator, Billy taught sixth grade at Brushton-Moira Central School for 32 years, from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. Known for his humor, history trivia, and big heart, he left a lasting impression on generations of students.

Beyond the classroom, Billy lived a rich and full life. A proud Marine and passionate golfer, he was also a percussionist and officer for the Brushton-Moira Community Band. He was a loyal New York Giants fan, an active member of the Knox Memorial Alumni Association, and an enthusiastic singer with both the Canton Goldenaires and The Four Knoxmen barbershop quartet.

He loved music, spirited debates, and family gatherings—where his storytelling and Elvis impersonations were always in demand. Most recently, he found great joy in cheering on "President" Kennedy at her many sporting events.

Billy's wit, warmth, and wisdom touched all who knew him. His greatest joy was his family—his biggest fans and proudest legacy.

If there's a golf course in heaven, he's already booked a tee time—and corrected the scorecard.
