DANNEMORA------ Eileen B. Tacy, 93, formerly of Thayer Ave., went home to be with the Lord, Friday December 26, 2014 at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Saranac on February 17, 1921 the daughter of Solomen and Mabel (Collins) Beauchemin. Eileen had an outstanding mind and loved to learn. She entered high school when she was only 9 years old. At 13, she graduated from Salaz Academy as valedictorian. She wanted to go to Plattsburgh Normal School to be a teacher, but she was too young for the entrance requirement. After special testing, they discovered that her mind was much more advanced than her age and allowed her admission. She graduated as a teacher when she was only 16 years old, but NY State mandated you be 18 years old to teach. Therefore, Eileen had to wait two years before her 38 year teaching career could begin. She taught in one room school houses in Beartown, Pulp Hill and around the area. When Saranac built their four room school, she taught there until they centralized Cadyville. She taught 1st grade at Cadyville Elementary from it's opening until her retirement in 1977. Eileen was known for teaching many children in the North Country to read and write and she was loved for her kind heart and caring ways. Eileen married the love of her life, Arthur Tacy, on June 21, 1941 in Redford. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage and did everything together until Art's death on August 25, 2013. They enjoyed picnics and boating on Chazy Lake, camping at Fish Creek, bowling in leagues and golf. She also enjoyed decorating the many woodworking and craft projects that Art would make. Eileen made it to Heaven just in time to be reunited with Art so she could celebrate his birthday with him this year. Family was an important part of Eileen's life. She loved cooking family dinners, a good card game and visiting with people individually as well as at large get-togethers. Eileen loved playing games and always had games organized when we were together. She was also the poem and or skit writer for these parties. This came easily for her and she loved the entertainment they brought. Eileen was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora, a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association and a past member of many bowling leagues. Eileen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Madeline Tacy of Los Altos Hills, CA and Michael and Cheri Tacy of Ocean Shores, WA; three grandsons, Chris (Erin) Tacy of NC, Mark Tacy and Shannon (Nicolette) Tacy of CA; three great-grandchildren, Amelia and Siena of NC and Keiran of CA; a sister, Marge Camfield of Plattsburgh; sister-in-law, Jean Beauchemin of NC and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Art, three brothers, and sisters-in-law, Robert "Joe" (Sarah) Beauchemin, Norman "Mike" (Toni) Beauchemin and Arnold "Diddy" Beauchemin and brother-in-law, Edward Camfield. She was also predeceased by Art's brothers, Robert and Carl Tacy and his sisters, Grace Martin and Rita Baker. We wish to give many thanks to all the special angels that helped our Mom in the twilight of her life. They include her sister, Marge Camfield and Eileen's special niece and her husband, Debbie and Larry Alphonso, plus the staff at Evergreen.
