PLATTSBURGH: Verner Vern Korths, 78, of Route 22, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home. He was born in the City of Riga, Latvia on September 18, 1932, the son of the late Boris and Milda (Otiliza) Korth. Vern attended the Swiss Tropical Institute in Basel, Switzerland and completed a degree in animal husbandry. Vern worked for Ayerst in St. Justine, Quebec, Canada, and retired after 28 years of service at the Wyeth-Ayerst Research Facility in Chazy. He was the only lifetime member of the Beekmantown Lions Club, a long time member of the Barbershoppers of Plattsburgh and also had many dedicated hours as a volunteer at the Mountain Lake Public TV in Plattsburgh as a French translator. Vern is survived by his wife, Anne (Gautier) Korths; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Nicholas Korths of Richmond Hill, GA and Patrick Korths and his wife, Tiffany of Wollaston, MA; three daughters and their companions, Nadia Korths and Peter Dupree of Saranac Lake, Daphne Korths and Bryan Crinkley of Sooke, British Columbia, Canada and Mira Korths of Irving, TX; one brother and his companion, Rainer Korth and Helga Winkler of Graz, Austria; Lorraine Crinkley and Jennifer Baur of British Columbia, Canada, Ashley Bodoford and Amanda Alvarez of Richmond Hill, GA and Patrick Dupree of Saranac Lake, which he always referred to as his grandchildren ; and a special friend of over 50 years, Kurt Brasdat of West Chazy. He is also survived by in-laws, Ro Gautier, Henriette and Francis Ley, and his nieces and nephews--- abroad in Europe. Special thanks to his niece, Dr. Genevieve Ley who recently worked with Vern to memorialize his rich life. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, Emile Gautier. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. To celebrate Verns life, a get together will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Gumas Restaurant in West Chazy. Donations in his memory can be made to the Beekmantown Lions Club, 284 Cumberland Head Road, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. The R. W.
