Obituary

PLATTSBURGH: William P. OKeefe, 90, of the Tom Miller Rd. died late Friday evening at his home. He was born in Pompton, NJ on October 9, 1921, the son of Harold and Margaret (Donnelly) OKeefe. Mr. OKeefe married the former Margaret Lishnak at St. Josephs Church in Paterson, NJ in 1951. He received a degree in engineering at the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1944 and joined the US Navy during WWII serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. After the War, he received his teaching degree from Rutgers University in 1950 and his Masters degree in 1954 from NJ State Teachers College in Montclair. Mr. OKeefe was an elementary school teacher in the Fair Lawn, NJ School System for many years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Alexanders Church in Morrisonville and formerly of St James Church in Totowa, NJ. Mr. OKeefe was a former member of the Totowa, NJ Knights of Columbus and American Legion. Survivors include His wife, Margaret; two sons, Steven OKeefe of Hico, W.VA and John OKeefe and his wife Cynthia of Peru; three granddaughters, Lorien Blaine and her husband Andrew, Jocelyn OKeefe and Erin OKeefe; two great grandchildren, Zoey and Zane Blaine and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son William and two brothers, Bertram OKeefe and Robert OKeefe. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30 am at St. Alexanders Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ following the Mass. Donations, in his memory, may be made to Hospice Care of the North Country.
